Brief summary and personal reflection on the story
A young man whose name is Mitchell was the student who hated to show his emotion to other people. When he got the college, he met a professor Morrie and became comfortable to him. Morrie called him Mitch and he called Morrie coach. Since then, they spent time together every tuesdays. On tuesdays, this two guys had meals together in the cafeteria-usually the menu was sandwiches. While they are in the cafeteria, they discussed about many things and sometimes Morrie was a counselor for Mitch. 4 years later, Mitch graduated the school. He made the promise to keep touch with Morrie, but he never did over 10 year because his life had been too busy to remember old professor Morrie, who taught him the importance of emotional value. He had been living intense life as a journalist. One day, he listened Morrie's voice through a television and figured out that Morrie had fatal illness, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Lou Gehrig that melts his nerves and leaves the body a pile of wax. Since Mitch Knew that, he had visited Morrie's house and took the last class. The subject was The Meaning of Life- the world, feeling sorry for yourself, regrets, death, family, emotions, fear of aging, money, how love goes on, marriage, culture, forgiveness, and the perfect day. During the class, Mitch had been changed step by step. Finally, his body couldn't overcome the illness but his soul was more healthy than any other the healthy young.
Morrie was really positive person even in such a situation- at the end he couldn't do any basic actions without the helps of family, friends, or machine. Most people, including me, might be very depressed when the situation that someone have to wipe their ass. But Morrie was different. He said sometimes he felt sad, but when the sad mood was coming, he just cried for a while and tried to overcome. And he thought he had luck because he could prepare for the death. How could he be so positive in that agony? While I read this book, I could remember one teacher. Even though she doesn't suffer from Lou Gehrig, she is really optimistic and thinks emotional values like love is more important that material ones as Morrie thought. I met her last year and since then, I have tried to think positively like her. She always says 'Everything is going to be alright.' Like Morrie changed Mitch, she changed my way of how to think. In this sense, when the author, Mitch Albom asked 'Have you ever had a teacher like this?' in this book, my answer was 'Yes, I have.' Next month, in September, she will go back to her country, U.S.A. As Mitch sent his coach, I may have to prepare to send my one. I am happpy because luckly, unlike Mitch, I have chance to meet my coach again.

Reflection
Before I read whole text of 'The secret DIARY of ADRIAN MOLE
aged 13¾' , I just saw some comments located in the back of the
book quickly and quietly. There are lots of comments that praise this book as a hilarious thing. For example, A reader whose nickname is 'Daily Express' said " The bestseller of the year! A laugh a minute!" After reading these positive comments, I turned the first page with the expectation of 'A laugh a minute'. However, I was disappointed at first time. There was no special event that attracted my attention. As I turned the pages continually, however, I felt interesting in that book. Ware there some interesting big episodes in the latter? Definitely not. The interesting point of the book is the Adrian's life is so ordinary and there is no fictional events that I could be familiar. At the same time, I could know the life and thoght of boys my age that I didn't know in detail since I am not a boy. Those are little strange and sometimes hard to understand but I think visiting their brain was pretty good experience that I can do indirectly by reading book. In this sense, I thank this book. Adrian, the main character who writes this book-at the sight of him, it is his daily diary-is a young man believes himself as a unfounded young intellectual. (I wrote him as a young man not a young boy because I judged he has the feeling that adults can possess-the LOVE!) At first everything seems to go to the worst for him. Pandora, his first lover felt in love with his friend, Nigel who has expensive bicycle. His neighbor Mr. Lucas attracted his mother and she divorced father, the father lost his job, spots on his face made him mad, Bert, the old man who received volunteer work from him had bad temper, and his pet got sick, and Kent, one of his classmate menaced him to give money. However, at th end everything was going to be alright. He became familiar with Bert, his grand mother receive his all money back from Kent, His mother and father got together, then he and Pandora were in love! The most important part I sympathized is the diary that is written on Thursday June 11th- 'Spent all day with my love. Can't write much, hands are still trembling.' The reason why I sympathized is I have experience like that. Few years ago, I liked a boy who did Tae- Kwon-Do very well. And one day, he told me he liked me. On that day, I was so happy that I couldn't concentrate on anything. I can understand his situation and how he felt. With falling in love, his diary became bright. I also know when someone fells in love, she or he only can see the beautiful side of life. In this sense, I think falling in love has good effect on the person. Secondly, the thing I learned from this book is there are some durations when every things are massed up to someone and there are also some times when people can do well in life. In fact, I think I has not been doing so well as I expected since I entranced this school. Although I have pretty hard time, I sure that the bright day will be coming soon.

Global warming

Over the past 50 years, the average global temperature has increased at the fastest rate in recorded history. And experts think the trend is accelerating: the 10 hottest years on record have all occurred since 1990. Scientists say that unless we curb global warming emissions, average temperatures could be 3 to 9 degrees higher by the end of the century.
Global warming is already causing damage in many ways. For example of Korea, we had worst drought in 100 years of record, 2001. And in 2007, the average nationwide temperature for winter was 2.46 degrees Celsius, the warmest since South Korea began recording the weather. The impacts of global warming are not limited to a country. In 2003, extreme heat waves caused more than 20,000 deaths in Europe and more than 1,500 deaths in India. And in what scientists regard as an alarming sign of events to come, the area of the Arctic's perennial polar ice cap is declining at the rate of 9 percent per decade.
These are main hard situation that we will have if we wouldn't prevent it: Melting glaciers, early snowmelt and severe droughts will cause more dramatic water shortages. Rising sea levels will lead to coastal flooding. Warmer sea surface temperatures will fuel more intense hurricanes. Forests, farms and cities will face troublesome new pests and more mosquito-borne diseases. Disruption of habitats such as coral reefs and alpine meadows could drive many plant and animal species to extinction.
The cause of global warming is carbon dioxide and other air pollution that is collecting in the atmosphere. Coal-burning power plants are the largest source of carbon dioxide pollution - they produce 2.5 billion tons every year. Automobiles, the second largest source, create nearly 1.5 billion tons of CO2 annually.
So, to reduce the amount of CO2 emission, many countries and companies do lots of efforts to develop new technology that is less harmful for environment. And here's the good news: technologies exist today to make cars that run cleaner and burn less gas, modernize power plants and generate electricity from nonpolluting sources, and cut our electricity use through energy efficiency. The challenge is to be sure these solutions are put to use.
Also, there are many simple steps we can take right now to cut global warming pollution. By using a less energy-efficient model, we can reduce carbon dioxide pollution. Instead of using cars frequently, we can take public transportation or you can just walk if the distance for obfective is short. The most important thing to prevent global warming is paying attention to it. Very little thing that we do in daily life can affect to the average temperature of Earth.Make conserving energy a part of daily routine!

School uniform

These days we, BIHS 12th students have the rule that make us wear school uniform. Some students dislike this rule and as one of those students, I disagree with wearing school uniform.

For the first reason, wearing uniform can prevent students from revealing their own thoughts or characteristics. Students need to express their countless creativity in their everyday life because nowadays society looks for creative talents. Ignoring one's characteristics, wearing standardized uniforms can interfere with students to show who they are.

Secondly, school uniforms are not convinient for students who should wear them for long time and keep studing. In girl's case, most of our uniforms are skirts so we have to give aittention to legs during studying. And sometimes it can be disturbance. Casual clothings are more comfortanle to concentrate on studying.

Still now, since we are on the starting stage of wearing uniforms, there are many arguments on this issue. And for those reasons that I mentioned, I disagree with wearing standardized school uniforms because casual clothing can help students expressing their creativity and is more comfortable to concentrate on studying.
